support@mnl-app.com — every message reaches the person who runs the app. We aim to answer within 30 days, and faster for anything urgent below.
What is this app?
It reads a social post or video with an AI model and gives you a nutrition-facts-style label: what it is saying, the persuasion techniques it uses, and how hard it is pulling on your emotions. Every label joins your media diet, so over time you can see what your feed keeps feeding you. It is a thinking aid.
How do I scan something?
In Instagram or TikTok, hit Share and pick Media Nutrition Label — it lands straight in a scan. Otherwise open the app, tap the camera button in the middle of the tab bar, and paste a link, pick a screenshot, or choose a screen recording.
Can it read a whole video?
Yes. Screen-record it and pick it on the Scan screen — the app samples frames across the timeline and transcribes the audio automatically.
What does “Check this claim” do?
When a label carries a claim worth checking, a Check this claim button sits under it. Tapping it sends the claim printed on your label and the search terms it suggests — not your original media — to the AI model, which searches the public web and prints a second sheet: the claim it searched, what the sources it reached say, and what the search found. It paraphrases those sources and names them; it does not link them, and the names are the model’s own, so treat them as where to start checking rather than as a citation. When the search turns nothing up it says so, because finding nothing is not a finding. The search takes longer than a scan. The answer is saved with that label and is deleted when you delete the label or your account. Check this claim is an MNL Pro feature; the button tells you how many you have left before you spend one.
Where do my scans go?
Each one is saved to your account and joins your media diet. Revisit them on the Diet and Diary tabs; export or clear them any time from the app, under You → Your Data.
A label is wrong, offensive, or should not have been produced
Every label has a Report a problem control, in the app on the label itself and on the You tab under Support, as Report a label. Use it for a label that is wrong, offensive, or about something that should never have been scanned. We acknowledge within five business days and act within ten. Illegal content is dealt with the moment we read the report. If you disagree with what we decide, reply and say so — a second look is done by a person, within fifteen business days.
A label states something false about a real person
Every label is written by an AI model, and no person reads it before you do. Models get things wrong, and occasionally state something false with complete confidence. If Media Nutrition Label has produced a label about something you made or said, and it contains a statement of fact about you that is false — not a rating you disagree with, a stated fact — write to support@mnl-app.com with enough to identify it: a screenshot of the label, the post it read, and what is false.
We acknowledge within two business days and tell you what we have done within five. If we are away, an automatic reply says so and gives the date we return; those clocks start then.
We can delete a label from our systems and correct our records. We cannot retrieve a copy someone has already shared — a label that has left the app is a picture on somebody’s phone, and we have no way to reach it. We do not adjudicate the underlying post: the app never declares a claim true or false, so a correction request is not a route to having us rule on one.
What does MNL Pro cost?
$8.99 per month, charged to your Apple ID when you confirm. It renews automatically each month at the same price until you cancel. There is one plan, it renews every month, we do not offer an annual plan, and there is no free trial. The free plan stays available and is not time-limited. MNL Pro raises the daily scan limit and unlocks the monthly Brain report, Dig Deeper and Check this claim; the purchase screen in the app shows the price and the monthly period before you buy, and those are the terms that govern your purchase.
Cancel or manage your subscription
MNL Pro is billed and managed entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details and cannot cancel or refund a subscription from our side. On your iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Media Nutrition Label → Cancel Subscription, at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Pro stays on until the period you have already paid for is over. For a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com — Apple handles refunds directly, and we have no ability to override that. Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription — cancel that separately as above, or Apple will keep billing an account that no longer exists.
The app says you are not old enough
MNL is for people 13 and over, and the app asks for your birth month and year before it will create an account. If the answer came out wrong, it sticks on that phone. Write to support@mnl-app.com, say that you are 13 or over and what happened, and a person will send back a one-time code that lets that phone ask the question again — enter it on the same screen when it arrives. Deleting the app and installing it again will not normally clear it. A parent or guardian can use the same address, including about an account that already exists. We do not keep the date that was entered, so tell us in your own words.
Delete your account
In the app: You tab → Delete account, at the bottom of the screen, or You tab → Edit profile → Delete account. This removes your profile, your labels, your preferences and your usage history from our database, immediately and permanently; we cannot undo it or get any of it back for you. Four things outlast it and the Privacy Policy explains all four: a copy can remain in a backup until that backup is deleted; the record of which agreements you accepted is kept because we have to be able to show that you agreed; if we ever removed one of your labels ourselves, the note that we did — the label’s id, our reason and the date, never the label itself — is kept, with your account id taken out of it; and, if you ever subscribed, the record that we sent you the billing notices the law requires — which notice, where, when, and whether it arrived, never the message itself — is kept for at least three years. It does not cancel an active subscription — cancel that separately in Settings → Subscriptions, as above, or Apple will keep billing an account that no longer exists.
Your data
